Statement of Strategic Partnership For International Cyber Security Education Coalition

Whereas the National Security Agency wishes to promote  Information  Assurance education in order to protect the national information infrastructure of the United States,

Whereas the  Regis University and The University of Detroit Mercy have been recognized by the National Security Agency as Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education,

Whereas Eastern Michigan University, Bay College, Delta College, Henry Ford Community College, Lansing Community College, Oakland Community College, Owens Community College, Sinclair Community College, Washtenaw Community College have achieved mapped status through the Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) program by matching existing courseware to competencies defined in CNSSI 4011,

Whereas  Membership in the IC-SEC is open to business, industry and governmental agencies that foster Information Assurance development, based on national and international standards:  BSI Americas, FBI Infragard, the Information Assurance Professionals Association (IAPA),  and London Southbank University will provide practical opportunities.

Whereas these institutions, in combination, herein referred to as International Cyber Security Coalition (IC-SEC) have created an international entity for Information Assurance education.

Therefore, the National Security Agency encourages IC-SEC to:

  • Conduct high quality education and training programs related to Information Assurance
  • Carry out basic and applied research in support of both public and private sector applications.
  • Foster a common understanding of the field, based on accepted national standards.

The goals of this partnership are to:

  • Provide leadership in Information Assurance education for government, education, business and industrial organizations.
  • Provide a forum to promote Information Assurance education.
  • Develop a process of continuous curriculum revision and enhancement based on standards issued by the Committee of National Security Systems or other recognized national or international standards bodies.
  •  Grow the Coalition by including additional institutions, business, industry and governmental agencies who have met the conditions and requirements of these standards.

Members of the Coalition agree to use their best efforts to maintain an educational, financial and administrative infrastructure sufficient to achieve these goals. This Statement will be maintained as a living document, subject to review and approval by Coalition partner institutions.
